Referral of patients from primary care for specialist treatment is an indispensable part of clinical practice. For GDP practices there are substantial cost savings to be achieved when referrals of non-standard treatments are made to the UCLan Dental Clinic, especially when compared with specialist clinical consultants operating within the secondary care sector.

Our referred option has been well received by the Local Dental Committee and secondary care consultants are broadly supportive, in that we provide an avenue for non-standard treatments, thereby freeing them up to concentrate on more complex procedures.

For GDPs, our patient referral facility provides for specialist techniques and aftercare that you may not be equipped to handle. Our referrals charter also means that:
